Autumn Holiday at Melstedgård

During the autumn holiday, Melstedgård offers a range of exciting workshops and activities for the whole family. Come and learn something new, try traditional crafts and enjoy pleasant moments in authentic surroundings. Below you will find the preliminary program for the autumn holiday. Please note that some activities require advance registration and payment, while others are free and open to everyone once admission has been paid. Read the individual descriptions for practical information. PROGRAM FOR THE WEEK Monday, October 12 All day: Hunting theme and clay pigeon simulator at the farm This year, a clay pigeon simulator will visit the farm, giving you the chance to try “shooting at clay pigeons” in a fun and safe way. Do you have a good eye for the target, or will you need a few attempts before hitting the mark? Price: Free. Registration: Not required. Tuesday, October 13 10:00–11:30 a.m. and 12:30–2:00 p.m.: Embroidery workshop in the farmhouse Try your hand at needlework, thread and small stitches at Melstedgård. The workshop is for beginners and children of all ages. Registration: Email akp@bornholmsmuseum.dk to reserve your place. Price: DKK 50 per person plus admission. Pay at Skafferiet. 10:00 a.m.: Pig slaughter in the farmyard: See how a pig was slaughtered on a Bornholm farm in the old days. 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.: Potato rösti over the fire Make and taste crispy potato rösti cooked over the fire in the field. Price: Admission. Registration: Not required. 1:00–3:00 p.m.: Fermentation workshop in Madkulturhuset Learn how to ferment seasonal vegetables and find inspiration for making flavorful, long-lasting products at home. Registration: Not required. Price: DKK 75 per person or group. Pay at Skafferiet. Wednesday, October 14 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.: Bobbin lace workshop Try the traditional craft of bobbin lace and learn the basic techniques. Pay at Skafferiet. 1:00–4:00 p.m.: Willow weaving workshop Learn to weave with willow and make your own small woven item under expert guidance. Thursday, October 15 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.: From sheep to dyed yarn Follow wool’s journey from sheep to dyed yarn and try some of the processes yourself. Price: Admission. Registration: Not required. 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.: Butter-making workshop in the farmhouse Learn to make your own butter and discover traditional dairy practices. Price: DKK 55 per person plus admission. Pay at Skafferiet. Registration: Not required. 1:00–3:00 p.m.: Chips workshop in Madkulturhuset: Learn to make your own delicious chips with fresh herbs. We will experiment with different flavor combinations. Price: DKK 20. Pay at Skafferiet. Registration: Not required. Saturday, October 17 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.: Knitting workshop Learn basic knitting techniques or find inspiration for your next project. Throughout the week (Monday–Saturday) Make your own turnip lantern: Throughout the week, you can make your own turnip lantern and take it home. A cozy autumn activity for children and adults, inspired by old harvest traditions. Price: Included with admission.
