Saturday lecture

What do we tell ourselves and one another about Bornholm’s history? Do we know where our shared knowledge comes from? These questions are the starting point for this Saturday lecture, in which archaeologist Anders Pihl explores the literature on the island’s history. Topics include drifting sand, farm names, Tunneby and an exchange of property dating from 1313. The lecture also examines a recurring tendency in writing about the island’s history: repeating what others have written without questioning it. We have done this for centuries, but the rise of artificial intelligence makes it more important than ever to pay attention and safeguard our shared history.

The lecture is given by archaeologist and PhD student Anders Pihl at Bornholms Museum, Sankt Mortens Gade 29, 3700 Rønne, from 12:00 to 14:00. The lecture is free with paid museum admission. Children and young people under 18, as well as members of Bornholms Museumsforening, receive free admission. Bornholms Museum presents the lecture in cooperation with Bornholms Folkeuniversitet at Bornholms Museum in Rønne.
