Between 1923 and 1956, Store Torv in Rønne changed its character. New cinemas, banks, and bookshops, designed by leading architects of the time, gave the town a modern feel. In her new book Bio, Bank og Boghandel – da Rønne blev moderne, Susanne Wenningsted-Torgard explores the buildings, the architects, and the enterprising people behind this development. The book traces the architectural trends that reached Bornholm and shows how modern architecture was adapted to Rønne’s distinctive building traditions.

Look forward to a richly illustrated lecture featuring historical photographs and new images by Sven Berggreen, presented by art historian Susanne Wenningsted-Torgard.

The lecture takes place at Bornholms Museum, Sankt Mortens gade 29, 3700 Rønne, from noon to 2 p.m. The lecture is free with paid museum admission. Children and young people under 18, as well as members of Bornholms Museumsforening, are admitted free of charge.

Bornholms Museum organizes the lecture at the museum in Rønne in collaboration with Bornholms Folkeuniversitet.
