Step inside Bolchekogeriet Almuegaarden in Gudhjem, where you can choose from a wide selection of handmade hard candies, try working with the candy mixture, and make your own candies and lollipops. Traditional candy making meets a hands-on activity for children and adults alike – and ice cream and views of the Baltic Sea and Christiansø await on the roof terrace.

Almuegaarden is one of Denmark's oldest candy makers and continues to make hard candies by hand using original machinery from the 19th century. In the shop, you will find classic candy flavors as well as candies with various designs, and you can fill a paper cone with a mix of your favorites.

Make your own candies and lollipops

At Almuegaarden, you can try shaping candies and lollipops from the candy mixture yourself. It is an activity where both children and adults can get hands-on with candy making and take their own sweet creations home.

There is no need to book in advance. The candy mixture is ready to use throughout the hours when the activity is offered, so you can drop in and join in whenever it fits into your day exploring Gudhjem.

Ice cream and views over Gudhjem

You can also combine your visit with a break at Almuegaarden's ice cream café. It serves handmade ice cream and waffles, including flavors and toppings inspired by the candy maker's own products, as well as hot and cold drinks.
