Stay in the middle of Svaneke’s old town at Nansens Gård – a historic merchant’s house surrounded by half-timbered buildings, winding streets and the town’s distinctive atmosphere. Centrally located in Svaneke, the house provides an evocative setting for a stay close to the harbour and town life.
Nansens Gård has seven individually decorated rooms on the first floor. No two rooms are alike, and the artwork on the walls varies from room to room. The rooms have a washbasin and mirror, while bathroom and toilet facilities are shared in the corridor.
Take a stroll in the courtyard garden, where art and the old buildings form part of the setting, or step straight out into Svaneke and explore the town on foot. The history of the house goes back to merchant and shipbuilder Jens Müller Nansen, who lived here in the 19th century and took part in Svaneke’s active trade and maritime life of the time.
Nansens Gård is also a setting for creative stays and events. In 2026, the house has hosted drawing and watercolour retreats inspired by Svaneke’s harbour, cliffs and townscape.
