Vinterjazz 2027

With a unique blend of Ghanaian highlife, reggae, dub, and soul, Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo bring warmth, pulsating grooves, and hard-hitting horns to Danish music venues in spring 2027. With roots in Denmark and Ghana, they create a dynamic and hopeful sound, while their messages are direct and address the worrying direction the world is heading in. On stage, the nine-person collective creates an inclusive space bubbling with infectious playfulness.

The years 2022–2026 have been explosive for the band. The release of their first Danish-Ghanaian album, Anyankofo, led to extensive tours across Europe, South America, and West Africa. Both the release and their live show received glowing reviews in magazines and on the radio, culminating in successful performances at legendary European festivals such as Bout du Monde (FR) and Reggae Jam (DE).

Now the band is ready with the project's second album, Ehum. The album took shape on the road—through tours, travels in Ghana, and jams with musicians from both Ghana and Denmark. After several years of friendship and musical exchange, the band delves even deeper into the encounter between their different cultural roots, creating a new shared musical language.

Ehum marks the beginning of a major new musical journey. First, the band travels along the West African coast, with concerts in Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, and Ghana. Europe follows, as the band brings fresh impressions, euphoria, and great warmth to Danish music venues in February–March 2027.

The concert is organized in collaboration between Musikhuzet, Svanekegaarden & ØstersøJazz.

About the album Ehum (release November 27, 2026)

Highlife, reggae, and dub from Denmark and Ghana—music created between places, people, and traditions.

Ehum means “storm” in Fante, the language spoken by Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo's three members from Cape Coast. But the storm on the album is not just a metaphor for unrest. It is also found in encounters between people, in the movement between Denmark and Ghana, and in the attempt to find solid ground when the things you thought were fixed begin to shift.

This is the starting point for Ehum, the second album from the nine-member Danish-Ghanaian collective. The album took shape on the road, in studios, and through countless jam sessions—the result of a musical collaboration that has been allowed to develop over time and across continents. Here, Ghanaian highlife, reggae, dub, and collective improvisation come together in a sound with both deep roots and a distinctly contemporary pulse.

The music is built on rhythm, interplay, and curiosity, but also on the questions that arise when people with different histories and backgrounds try to create something together. Following Anyankofo from 2022, the band takes another step into this shared musical space. With Florence Adooni & her band, Nsoroma from Santrofi, Kwame Yeboah, and West African reggae legend Tiken Jah Fakoly as collaborators, Ehum becomes an album about roots and movement, identity and belonging, inequality, hope, and maintaining connections with other people.
