The Arboretum in Almindingen is a peaceful and inspiring forest botanical garden where nature and knowledge come together. Located in Bornholm’s largest forest, it features a unique collection of trees and shrubs from across the northern hemisphere – selected along the 55th latitude, the same as Bornholm. Here, you can explore exotic species, small lakes and quiet walking paths, and experience a different side of the island’s nature with influences from North America and Asia.

The Arboretum in Almindingen is a beautiful and exciting forest botanical garden with a collection of 100 different trees and shrubs.

The arboretum was founded in the 1930s by forester Valdemar Sejer. His idea was to make a collection of trees and shrubs that grew on the 55th parallel, which is the latitude Bornholm is located on. At the same time, the bushes and trees were unusual on Bornholm.

After Sejer's time, the Arboretum was allowed to fall into disrepair, but in the 1980s it was renovated and expanded with trees mainly from North America and Asia. The North American ones were planted in the northern part of the garden, and the Asian, especially Japanese and Korean, were planted in the south.

The 4-5 hectare area has also been expanded with a network of paths and a number of small lakes. For selected trees, there are posters with a description of the tree. It is possible to park next to the entrance.
