FossilFestival on Bornholm invites you to discover the island’s fascinating past. On 19 September, museums, associations, visitor centres and experts across Denmark open their doors to exciting events for curious children and adults. Discover how fossils tell the story of Denmark’s prehistoric past and the development of life over millions of years.
On Bornholm, you can head into nature, feel history beneath your feet and search for traces of a distant past.
Saturday 19 September, 10 am–12 noon: Fossil Hunt at Risebæk – Bornholm’s wild past and most beautiful waterfall.
Join an experience-filled walk along Risebæk, where Bornholm’s dramatic nature holds stories reaching back millions of years. We will find shale with graptolites, visit what many call the island’s most beautiful waterfall, and search for fossils in 490-million-year-old marine deposits. With geological hammers, safety goggles and an experienced nature guide, the whole family can enjoy a fun, educational and different nature experience.
