LIS WESSBERG feat. VERONIKA RUD

Trombonist Lis Wessberg and vocalist Veronika Rud meet in a sensual musical universe where jazz melancholy, Nordic lyricism and improvisation merge into a vivid and moving concert experience. Drawing on Wessberg's cinematic and atmospheric compositions, the two artists create an expression that moves between the intimate and the expressive, the fragile and the powerful. For many years, Lis Wessberg has been one of Denmark's most prominent jazz artists and has received great acclaim for her releases with the band Yellow Map. The albums Yellow Map (2021) and Twain Walking (2024) both received five-star reviews nationally and internationally. Her warm, expressive trombone playing combines inspiration from Miles Davis and Chet Baker with modern soundscapes in the style of Talk Talk. Veronika Rud is an Aarhus-based singer and composer, known for her warm voice, strong presence and ability to unite the melancholic and the playful. Her 2024 debut EP has received significant attention and regular airplay on P8 Jazz. In collaboration with Wessberg, she adds a new vocal dimension to the already rich sonic universe. On stage, they are supported by an outstanding group of experienced and charismatic Danish musicians: Steen Rasmussen on piano, Jesper Thorn on bass and Jeppe Gram on drums. Together they create a deeply engaging concert experience with melodic trombone lines, expressive vocal narratives and an atmosphere ranging from intimately lyrical to intensely captivating.
