Ruths Kryddersild
Far out in the Baltic Sea, a family recipe has been passed down through generations on Christiansø. Ruth's Kryddersild brings the flavours of the small island community to tables across Bornholm and beyond.
The taste of Christiansø through generations
Among the granite cliffs and Baltic Sea waves of Christiansø lies the story behind Ruth's Kryddersild. Since 1967, the well-known spiced herring, tomato herring and curry herring have been produced using the same family recipe that still forms the foundation of their flavour today.
The company was founded by Ruth and is now run by her daughter Rikke, who continues to preserve the proud traditions and recipes passed down through generations. The result is herring that has found its way onto festive tables, holiday meals and lunch spreads for decades.
From the small island community in the Baltic Sea to shops and dining tables across Bornholm, Ruth's Kryddersild has become part of a food tradition that many return to year after year.
