"Sjølla" is Bornholmian and means "to rinse". And that is exactly what the quarry workers did here after work in the old days - and what the Nexø residents still do to this day.
Sjølla and Ny Sjølla are Nexø's "secret" bathing spots. Here, the rocks form natural basins into the coastline, providing relative shelter from the waves of the Baltic Sea.
At Ny Sjølla, a small bathing ladder has been established, making it easy to get in and out of the water.
