Bornholms Craft- & Kulturuger
Experience the island’s creative soul during Bornholm Craft and Culture Weeks. Here, Bornholms Kulturuge, Bornholm Craft Weeks and Litteraturens Folkemøde come together. Find calm in open studios, feel the words at author talks and enjoy music in very special places.

Late summer gathers the island’s creative soul
Experience the island’s many-sided creativity during Bornholm Craft and Culture Weeks. When late summer reaches the rocky island and the light grows softer, a very special calm settles over Bornholm. This is when Bornholm opens up the creativity, closeness and solid craftsmanship that already live on the island.
In September, three major events come together as Bornholms Kulturuge, Bornholm Craft Weeks and Litteraturens Folkemøde join in one shared programme. Here you can come close to the people who write, shape, play, tell stories and create on the island.
With one shared wristband on your wrist, you get access to weeks filled with intimate concerts, open studios, theatre and good conversations. The whole island is humming, and the activities move around Bornholm, so you can experience the local character at your own pace.

World-class craftsmanship
Bornholm holds a very special place on the world map of craftsmanship. As a World Craft Region, the island is known for its strong community of ceramicists, glassblowers, textile artists, woodworkers and other craftspeople, working with both tradition and the present.
During Bornholm Craft Weeks, studios, exhibition spaces and craftspeople open their doors. Here you can step inside the places where materials are shaped, where hands work, and where ideas slowly become finished works.
You can experience workshops, guided tours, openings, talks and small encounters with the people who create. It brings craftsmanship close. Not only as something beautiful to look at, but as a process you can come closer to.

Feel the words at Litteraturens Folkemøde
In Nexø, words find their own place during Bornholms Kulturuge. Litteraturens Folkemøde invites you inside for days with books, conversations, readings and meetings between writers and readers.
Here you can sit down and listen as literature opens thoughts about life, history, society and the threads that connect people. The atmosphere is close and informal, and the town gives the words a special setting.
Nexø is not a random place for literature. The town carries traces of Martin Andersen Nexø, and the meeting between literature, harbour life and everyday life on Bornholm gives the Folkemøde a local note that fits well with the calm of late summer.

Follow the tracks through Bornholms Kulturuge
Bornholms Kulturuge brings Bornholm Craft and Culture Weeks to a beautiful close. Here, culture unfolds across the island with music, art, nature, history, food culture, theatre, literature, classical music and craftsmanship.
The programme is divided into cultural tracks, so you can find what matches your interests. You can look for concerts, guided tours, exhibitions, local flavours or small stages where the experience comes very close.
In this way, Bornholms Kulturuge becomes a living route through the island, where each track brings you a little closer to Bornholm’s places, voices and stories
Town of the day
During Bornholms Kulturuge, selected towns and areas have their own day in the programme. That does not mean everything only happens in one place, but that the day gives special focus to that part of the island.
Use the town days as a simple way to plan your trip. Choose a town, see what is happening nearby, and give yourself time to experience the place around the programme. It is often in the moments in between that you notice something new.

Get closer to the programme
Bornholm Craft and Culture Weeks bring together many kinds of experiences. That is why it can be a good idea to begin with one track, one town day or one of the three main parts: Bornholm Craft Weeks, Litteraturens Folkemøde or Bornholms Kulturuge.
